Live one-to-one lesson example.
From Gaza to Makkah, then to Imam Malik in Madinah, on to the scholars of Iraq, and finally to Egypt, Imam al-Shafi'i travelled the Muslim world gathering the knowledge of every school he met.
Kalamullah's Shafi'i Fiqh course teaches the school's rulings of worship and daily life through its classical primer, with the evidence behind each ruling and the relied-upon positions of the madhhab, in live one-on-one sessions in English with a teacher trained in Shafi'i Fiqh.
6–9The course begins with the life and method of Imam al-Shafi’i, the difference between his earlier and later positions, and the sources and principles of the school. Students then study the Shafi’i rulings of Taharah, Salah, Sawm, Zakah, and Hajj, followed by selected rulings of daily life. The course is taught through Matn Abi Shuja’, with each ruling explained with its evidence.
Students who have completed Kalamullah's Fiqh Course can use it to study one school in depth, while Shafi'i families use it to make sure their worship follows the school accurately.
The Shafi'i school is known for its precise method and detailed rulings. Kalamullah's Shafi'i Fiqh course teaches those rulings in the order of the school's own primer, so students build a complete, consistent understanding.
Every teacher assigned to Kalamullah’s Shafi’i Fiqh course has formal study in Shafi’i Fiqh and its classical texts from a recognized institution. Credentials are verified before assignment.
Each ruling is taught with the evidence and reasoning the Shafi'i scholars relied on, so students understand why the school holds its position, not only what it is.
Every lesson is private, so students can bring their own questions, from touching the opposite gender after Wudu to reciting behind the Imam, and see how the Shafi’i school answers them.
Kalamullah provides qualified female Shafi'i Fiqh teachers for sisters who prefer or require a same-gender teacher, including for rulings specific to women. The preference is honored throughout the course.
The Shafi’i school distinguishes carefully between pillars, conditions, and Sunnahs. Students learn these distinctions, so they know exactly which mistakes invalidate an act of worship and which do not.

Students apply each ruling to practical cases before the unit closes.
Students study the times, conditions, pillars, and Sunnahs of Salah in the Shafi'i school, including reciting al-Fatihah behind the Imam and the Qunut of Fajr, together with travel prayers and making up missed prayers.
The teacher reviews the student’s own prayer against the Shafi’i method, with a same-gender teacher where the student demonstrates it.
The teacher covers the Shafi'i rulings of fasting, how Zakah is calculated on savings, gold, and business assets, and the essential rulings of Hajj and Umrah.
Practical cases include Zakah calculations and common fasting questions.
The final unit covers selected Shafi'i rulings on food, dress, and basic transactions.
At the close of this unit, students have studied the full structure of the Shafi’i school through its primer and are prepared to compare it with the other schools in Kalamullah’s Comparative Fiqh Course.
Every outcome below is something the student can demonstrate to their Kalamullah teacher by the end of the Shafi'i Fiqh course, not simply a topic that was covered during sessions.
