HOW IT WORKS

What the Arabic Course for New Muslims Covers

Kalamullah’s Arabic basics for reverts begin with the Arabic letters, their sounds, and vowel marks. Students then learn the Arabic of Salah with its meanings: the Takbir, Al-Fatihah, the words of Ruku’, rising, and Sujud, the Tashahhud, the Salah upon the Prophet ﷺ, and the Tasleem.

Alongside this, they learn everyday Islamic expressions such as Bismillah, Alhamdulillah, and In sha Allah, along with core Islamic vocabulary, before moving to reading and understanding short Surahs from Juz Amma.

  • The Arabic of Salah: Every phrase of the prayer, from the opening Takbir to the closing Tasleem, taught with its meaning in English.
  • Letters and Daily Expressions: The Arabic letters and sounds, plus the expressions Muslims use every day and when to use each one.
  • Islamic Vocabulary and Short Surahs: Core terms like Tawheed and Zakah, and short Surahs from Juz Amma read with word-by-word meaning.
WHY KALAMULLAH

Kalamullah's Arabic basics for reverts begin with the words used five times a day. Students learn the Takbir, Al-Fatihah, and the phrases of Ruku', Sujud, and Tashahhud early, so their prayer grows in confidence while they learn to read.

COURSE STRUCTURE

How Kalamullah Structures the Arabic Course for New Muslims

Each module builds directly on the previous one, giving new Muslims a clear and gentle path from their first Arabic letter to understanding the Surahs they recite in prayer.

1

1. Welcome Session and Personal Goals:

The course opens with a relaxed conversation about the student's journey, what they already know, and what they most want to achieve, such as praying confidently or reading the Quran.

The teacher uses this to set a comfortable pace and a starting point that fits the student, with no pressure and no assumed knowledge.

2

2. Arabic Letters and Their Sounds:

Students learn the Arabic letters, their sounds, and the vowel marks, with gentle focus on sounds that do not exist in English. Reading practice uses words from Salah wherever possible.

By the end of this module, students read simple voweled words and pronounce the key letters of Salah clearly.

3

3. The Arabic of Salah With Meanings:

The teacher teaches the Takbir, Al-Fatihah, the words of Ruku’, rising from Ruku’, and Sujud, the Tashahhud, the Salah upon the Prophet ﷺ, and the Tasleem, one phrase at a time, with the meaning of each word explained in English.

Each phrase is practiced until the student recites it correctly and understands what it means, so their prayer becomes more confident and focused.

4

4. Daily Islamic Expressions and Core Vocabulary:

Students learn everyday expressions such as Bismillah, Alhamdulillah, In sha Allah, and Jazak Allahu Khayran, and the core vocabulary of Islam, including Tawheed, Salah, Zakah, and Sawm.

Students learn when and how to use each expression, helping them feel at home in their local Muslim community.

5

5. Reading Short Surahs With Understanding:

The final module brings everything together. Students read short Surahs from Juz Amma aloud and learn their meaning word by word with their teacher.

At the close of this module, new Muslims pray and recite with understanding and have the foundation to continue into Kalamullah’s Quran Reading Course for New Muslims or the Quranic Arabic Course for Beginners.

Common questions

Common Questions About the Arabic Course for New Muslims

A quick answer to the questions that come up most often before someone books their first trial class — a mix of questions specific to this course and questions about the academy as a whole.

Do I Need Any Arabic Before Joining the Course?+

No. The course is designed for new Muslims starting from zero. Students who have never seen Arabic letters begin with the letters and the words of Salah in their first sessions.

What Is the Best Way to Learn Arabic for New Muslims?+

Start with the Arabic you use every day in Salah, learn the meaning of each phrase, then build reading skills and vocabulary step by step. Kalamullah's course follows this order with a live teacher guiding you.

Can I Pray Before I Finish Learning Arabic?+

Yes. Prayer begins from the day you accept Islam. While you are learning Al-Fatihah, scholars advise reciting whatever you have learned so far, and the Prophet ﷺ taught a man who could not yet learn the Quran to say “Subhan Allah, wal-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah” in its place (Abu Dawud). Your teacher will help you learn Al-Fatihah first so your prayer is complete as soon as possible.

Will I Learn the Meaning of What I Say in Salah?+

Yes. Every phrase of Salah is taught together with its meaning in English, so you understand what you recite in every prayer.

Are Female Teachers Available for Sisters?+

Yes. Kalamullah provides qualified female teachers for sisters who are new to Islam. The preference is confirmed at registration and matched before the free trial session is booked.

Can I Reschedule a Session If Something Comes Up?+

Yes. Sessions can be rescheduled when genuine conflicts arise, with morning, afternoon, and evening slots available seven days a week across all time zones.
