A Teacher Shaped by the Classical Tradition

Shaykh Mahmoud grew up in a family of reciters and completed his memorization of the Qur’an at the age of twelve. He went on to study at Al-Azhar’s Faculty of Quran, where he specialized in tajweed, qira’at and the sciences of recitation — training directly under scholars who hold authentic chains of transmission.

For more than twelve years he has taught students across Europe, North America and the Gulf — from complete beginners finding their first letters, to advanced students completing their Ijazah. His classes are known for their calm pace, exacting correction, and the way complex rules suddenly feel simple.

At Kalamullah, the Shaykh leads the intermediate and Ijazah tracks, mentors the academy’s newer tutors, and personally reviews every Ijazah candidacy before it begins.
